This website collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

3.1 Traffic monitoring

Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA) to track user interaction. We use this data to determine the number of people who use our website, to better understand how they find and use our websites and to see their path through the website.

Although GA records data such as your geographic location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you. GA also records your computer’s IP address, which could be used to personally identify you, but Google does not give us access to this. We assume that Google is performing the processing.

GA uses cookies, details of which can be found in Google’s developer guides. Our website uses the GA analytics.js application.

Disabling cookies in your internet browser will prevent GA from tracking any part of your visit to pages on this website.

3.2 Our blog

If you choose to add a comment to any posts we publish on our blog , the name and email address you enter with your comment will be stored in this site’s database along with your computer’s IP address and the time and date you submitted the comment. This information is only used to identify you as a contributor to the comments section of the respective blog post and is not passed on to any of the processors detailed below. Only your name will appear on the website that the public sees.

Your comment and associated personal data will remain on this website until 1.) to remove the comment or 2.) have us remove the blog post. If you want the comment and your associated personal data to be deleted, please contact us using the email address you commented with.

If you are under 16 years old, you MUST obtain parental consent before posting a comment on our blog.

3.3 Contact forms and email links

Should you choose to contact us using a contact form, none of the data you provide will be stored by this website or transferred/processed by any processor as set out in section 6.0. Instead, the data will be entered in an email and sent to us via the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol). SMTP servers are protected by TLS (sometimes known as SSL), which means that email content is encrypted using 256-bit SHA-2 cryptography before being sent over the internet. Email content is decrypted by local computers and devices.

3.4 Electronic newsletter

If you choose to participate in our email newsletter, the email address you submit to us will be forwarded to MailChimp which provides us with email marketing services. We assume that MailChimp is performing the processing (see Section 6.0 below). The email address you submit will not be stored in the database of the website itself or in any of the internal computer systems.

Your email address will remain in the MailChimp database as long as we continue to use MailChimp’s email marketing services or until you explicitly request to be removed from the list. You can do this by using the unsubscribe links contained in any email newsletters we send you and in any newsletter email you receive from us.

If you are under 16 years old, you MUST obtain parental consent before signing up to our email newsletter.

While your email address remains in the MailChimp database, you will periodically (approximately once a month) receive email updates from us.

4.0 How we store your personal information

As detailed in section 3.2 above, if you submit a comment to a blog post published on this website, some personal information will be stored in this website’s database.

All traffic (file transfer) between this website and your browser is encrypted via the HTTPS protocol.

6.0 The processors we work with

We use a number of third parties to process personal data on our behalf. These third parties have been carefully selected and all of them comply with the legislation set out in section 2.0. All 3 of these third parties are based in the US and comply with the EU-US Privacy Sh ield.

7.0 Data breaches

We will report any unlawful data breach of this website within 72 hours of the breach if it is apparent that personal data stored in an identifiable form has been stolen.
