Empowering activism

Empowering Activism – Healing into Resilience

We are working hard for our vision of a better world. We try our best. We need to claim our rights! We stand for them, in the streets, in our workplace, in the neighborhood. We face so many challenges: The train crash, the loss of freedom and of our rights, the privatization of water, the degradation of our degrees and of arts in general, the destruction of the squares and parks like in Exarchia or the Academy of Platon. These and many more struggles that the government and the capitalist system is imposing on us.

Nonetheless, there is one good thing about all this: people are understanding the need for change and raising their voice to claim a life in dignity. To be fighting for our rights and a better life is very demanding and needs a good amount of resilience and togetherness.

We are inviting you to this workshop on Empowering Activism and Healing into resilience. We will share with each other our struggles and difficulties that we are facing as well as our strengths and hopes that unite us. We will explore ways and healing tools to be able to sustain our powers and motivation to keep going, to minimize the negative impact on ourselves and all of us getting hurt in this process. It is inspired by Social Psychology, Somatic Psychotherapy tools and healing ways through expressive arts. We will use our minds, bodies, emotions and our fantasy to create a powerful space in which we can feel free to express and share in depth.

We will work on psychological safety, practically how to take care of ourselves and rejuvenate after a difficult situation, a shock and a trauma during activism. We will provide a psychological first aid kit for interventions on the spot that something happens. Also we will give the time and space for taking care of emotional wounds during this time we all face.

When and where:
We will meet on Sunday 11th of June at 11:30-19:30 in the self-managed theatre Embros for this workshop.
The participation is with free donation (suggested 25€), please bring comfortable clothes and maybe some food to share.
